Comments from Charlie Kessler

Hello, This is Charlie Kessler. I did my AOW course with Jeremy in January. I'm the American who was working in Afghanistan that came to Australia right before New Years. I am sending this e-mail as a thank you for giving me the push in the right direction on the path of my life. Today, I just completed my IE. I had been working toward my rating as a DM, as a DM intern, and as a DM in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, Mexico since May. My trip to Australia reminded me why I got into the water in the first place. When I returned to Afghanistan my head was still at 30 meters. I didn't last much longer in the war after being to Australia. I left and got back into the water. This lifestyle is exactly what I needed after 10 hard years of working. Once again, thank you and Jeremy for everything. I wouldn't be here today if I hadn't met you and worked with you on my path to my PADI Professional rating. Take Care, Charlie Kessler

Dive students enjoy freedom after dive course

Recent students for Whitsunday Dive Adventures have recently been in contact to report on their Australian experience since learning to Scuba Dive with Whitsunday Dive Adventures.

Betti and I just wanted to tell you again that we had a lot of fun diving with Emily; she was a great teacher and made us feel comfortable diving right from the very beginning. After the course we did 2 more fun dives at the Great Barrier Reef, the pictures are attached :-) We had great visibilty and saw lots of beautiful things!

Greetz from the upper half of the world :-)

5 reasons to dive the Whitsundays in winter

The Whitsundays enjoys great tourist numbers duing the winter, with plenty of people choosing to learn to dive, or improve their dive skills while in town.

Here's out top five reasons to pull on some dive gear:

1. The fantastic weather. Our Winter temperatures and clear days make it ideal to dive and/or do an open water course.

2. Water temperature. Winter average water temperatures are 20-22 degrees. Considering its winter time, its a pretty amazing temp. Locals will often be found in a 5mm wetsuit, while people used to diving in cooler cliimate may be happy in a 3mm suit!

3. In winter the milder weather and smaller tides mean that visibility is at its best. This is particularly important around the islands where vis can be challenged by sediment swirls around rocks and islands.

4 .Winter months tend to increase the movement of manta rays and other palagics. It is interesting that the annual migration of whales brings with it an entirely different food chain. You never know what you are going to see.

5. During this time of the year we tend to have smaller numbers in our courses and of course accommodation tends to be more competitive. So you get more personal attention from our trainers and a cheaper price!

Whitsunday Dive Adventures wins Diver Rentention Award

Whitsunday Dive Adventures has been rewarded in recent weeks by PADI Asia Pacific with a Diver Retention Award. Success this in area acknowledges the ability of Whitsunday Dive Adventures to attract new divers, complete the courses and keep them coming back.

"Its very pleasing," said Mike Daley from Whitsunday Dive Adventures, " we strive to make every new diver fully appreciate the wonder and enjoyment from being a fully qualified diver under the PADI system. What better way is there to enjoy the magic of the Great Barrier Reef than from the bottom up. The Whitsundays is right in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef with 74 islands offering surperb fringing-reef dives to the excitement and diversity of diving at the outer reef... and its great to teach people to dive in this environment."

PADI Asia Pacific issue PADI Dive Centres and Resorts awards based upon significant contributions to the growth and development of diving. All PADI Dive Centres and Resorts within each of the eight regions were considered for nomination by a specially convened selection panel, who selected up to three finalists for each of the regional Awards.

A panel of PADI judges then considered all of the finalists within each region and we are very pleased to be able to include Whitsunday Dive Adventures in the awards.

Whitsunday Dive Adventures and joint operation Daydream Dive provide leading services to divers in and visiting the Whitsundays and Airlie Beach. Offering training, dive services, products and the best advice, the Whitsunday Dive Adventures store located in the main street of Airlie Beach should be the first stop for divers arriving in the Whitsundays.
